Obituary for Hope R. Carvell

Hope Ranee Carvell, of Lititz, went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 5, 2022. Her passing was unexpected, and she’s left a void in the hearts of those that knew and loved her.

Hope was born on July 31, 1977, to Steve and Kathy Carvell. A graduate of Warwick High School, Hope was employed at the Weis Markets in Lititz for 25 years. There, she was well known by coworkers and customers for her smile and infectious laughter. Many customers would make sure to go through Hope’s line if she was working, because she was always courteous and kind.

Hope was an active participant in the Lancaster chapter of Special Olympics. Her specialties were bocce ball and volleyball. Nothing brought her greater joy than getting to travel to Penn State for competitions. She also loved attending Tim Tebow’s annual Night to Shine event, where she got to dress up and spend an evening with friends dancing and having fun.

Hope had two great loves in her life - dogs and the Backstreet Boys. She loved playing with her family dogs throughout the years and listening to her favorite band.

Hope is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and her maternal grandfather, along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her parents, her maternal grandmother, aunts and uncles, and cousins who will miss her laugh and her loving spirit immensely.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, from 10 to 11 AM, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 200 West Orange Street, Lititz, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Robert J. Myallis officiating. Inurnment will take place in the Machpelah Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Special Olympics Lancaster County, PO Box 7442, Lancaster, PA, 17604, or to United Disabilities Services, 1901 Olde Homestead Lane, Lancaster, PA, 17601, because Hope would “want it that way.”

Arrangements by Stradling Funeral Homes, Inc., Akron/Ephrata.
