Gaylord D. Jonassen, 87, of Lancaster, formerly of East Earl and Ephrata, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019, at Conestoga View.

He was born in East Orange, NJ to the late Jonas M. and Alma M. (Stelter) Jonassen and was the husband of the late Shirley A. (Christophel) Jonassen who passed away in 2018.

Gaylord was a member of Christian Fellowship Church, New Holland. He earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University. During his working years he was an engineer for the Western Electric Company and holds several patents. He served his country in the US Navy from 1950-1954.

He is survived by a son, Glenn Richard Jonassen, companion of Barbara of Long Island, NY; a daughter, Brenda Lynne, wife of David H. Richardson of Yardley; 2 grandchildren, Brittany Ann Richardson and Ryan Donald, husband of Alexis Richardson and a sister, Janice Reimer.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Elaine.

Services will be private at Memory Gardens Memorial Cemetery.
