Fred Leroy Buffenmyer, 79, of Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Ephrata to the late Henry C. and Ruth (Burkholder) Buffenmyer and was the companion of Donna Stober.

Fred worked for EL Snyder Appliance, Woolworth and later for Advanced Auto Parts, Ephrata. As a teen he helped at Dr. Bixler's office. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in a transportation unit during the Viet Nam War and was a life time member of the Cocalico Post #3376 V.F.W.

Fred is survived by three siblings, Glenn L., husband of Almanara (Steffy) Buffenmyer, Barbara L., wife of the late Parke Haws, Jeanne L., wife of Jere Heft, all of Ephrata; a brother-in-law, Norman Hainley, of New Holland and 12 nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara Lynn Hainley and Mary Lou Jones and her husband Norman W. Jones.

Services and interment will be private in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
