Obituary for Esther H. (Good) Martin

Esther H. (Good) Martin, 89, of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Brecknock Township. to the late Howard Z. and Lizzie (Horning) Good and was the wife of the late Raymond B. Martin, who passed away in 2021.

She was a member of Metzler's Mennonite Church, Ephrata, where she taught Sunday school. Esther was a homemaker who was known for her cooking and enjoyed baking. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, and other family. Esther was very active in her sewing circle and made many quilts and layette bundles.

Esther is survived by two daughters, Sharon R. Long of Arkansas, Christine, wife of Mervin Zook of Oregon; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two brothers, H. Arthur, husband of Kay Good of Fairmount Homes, Park H., husband of LuAnne Good of Brickerville; five sisters, Katherine, wife of Ray Martin of New Holland, Susie, wife of Leroy Gehman of Adamstown, Harriet, wife of Marlin Eberly of Denver, Helen, wife of Earl Gehman of Bowmansville, and Phoebe, wife of Earl Zimmerman of Lebanon.

In addition to her parents and husband, Esther was preceded in death by four brothers, Harold H. Good, Charles E. Good, Sanford H. Good, Ira M. Good; seven sisters, Florence Good, who passed at birth, Charity Heller, Martha Stoner, Rachel Hoover, Climena Hostetter, Verna Martin, Sarah Shultz, Dorothy Martin, and three brothers-in-law, Warren Martin, Lester Shultz and Clarence Stoner.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023, from 2 to 4 PM at the Metzler Mennonite Church, 515 W. Metzler Road, Ephrata. An additional viewing will be held on Monday, November 6, 2023, from 10 to 11 AM, at the Metzler Mennonite Church, 515 W. Metzler Road, Ephrata, followed by her funeral service at 11 AM, with Pastor Ryan Bomgardner officiating. Interment will take place in the Metzler Mennonite Cemetery.
