Obituary for Ella W. Hollinger

Ella W. "Tut" Hollinger, 93, formerly of Stevens, passed away Monday, April 15, 2019, at Keystone Villa in Ephrata.

She was born in Lancaster County to the late Franklin G. and Edith (Walter) Knauer and was the widow of Alvin S. “Hully” Hollinger, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage before his passing on June 30, 2016.

Ella was a member of Mellinger’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Schoeneck and sewed for Gerber (Walter W. Moyer Co.) prior to her retirement. She loved gardening and hand embroidery. She also supported Hully’s interest in hunting and fishing, even accompanying him on some of his trips to Canada and Wyoming. She also shared Hully’s love of listening to bluegrass and Southern gospel music, as well as to the Time Machine which aired on Saturday nights on WIOV.

Ella is survived by one sister and two brothers: Kathryn W. Hertzog, of Denver, George W., husband of Merla Knauer, of Denver; William W. Knauer, of Stevens; and 23 nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2019, from 2 to 3 pm at the Mellingers Evangelical Lutheran Church, 80 Gockley Road, Stevens, PA 17578. Funeral services will follow at 3 pm, with Pastor Timothy L. Craven officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.
