Obituary for Elizabeth Strauss
R. Elizabeth “Libby” (Diem) Strauss, 94, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Ephrata Manor.
She was born in Ephrata to the late Harry S. and Lizzie (Zimmerman) Diem and was the wife of the late Warren D. Strauss, who passed away in 1996.
She was a member of Brickerville United Lutheran Church. Elizabeth was very involved with the Brickerville Fire Company and was a former president of the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, country music, and was an avid Phillies fan.
Elizabeth worked as a restaurant manager for the Brickerville House, the former Lincoln Restaurant, and John Martin Café, among various other restaurants.
Elizabeth is survived by four children, Sandra L., wife of the late David Buckwalter, Debra L., wife of Steven Gochneuer, Dennis J., husband of Pamela Strauss, W. Michael, husband of Lisa Strauss; 10 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Clarence Diem, Harold Diem, Anna Demmy, Naomi Redcay and George Diem.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, from 9 to 11 AM at Brickerville United Lutheran Church, 340 East 28th Division Highway, Lititz, followed by her funeral service at 11 AM, with Pastor Viking Dietrich officiating. Interment will take place in Brickerville St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
