Obituary for Edward W. "Bill" Rutter

Edward W. Rutter, 82, long-time resident of Ephrata, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Brethren Village.

He was born in Lancaster to the late Edward H. and Almeda L. (Bechtold) Rutter and was the husband of Mary Elaine (Buohl) Rutter with whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage July 23, 2020.

He was a member of Ephrata Church of the Brethren.

Edward (also known as Bill) served in the Navy from 1957 to 1961 and retired from the former Alcoa (Alumax). He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman and enjoyed volunteering for the American Diabetes Association and the CROP Walk.

In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by his son, Keith, and his wife Pam Rutter of Silver Spring, MD; two grandchildren, Jordan and Erin Rutter and a sister, Barb Marion of Lancaster.

Services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
