Obituary for Donald P. Landis

Donald P. Landis, 78, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital.

He was born in Sellersville to the late Ralph and Marion (Clemmer) Landis and was the husband of Gloria (Moyer) Landis with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.

In 1965, Don served in the U.S. Coast Guard. His time in service instilled a deep reverence for his country that remained with him all of his life. As a skilled tradesman, he earned a living in various trades from masonry and excavating to concrete and truck driving. A hard-working, good-natured man, Don enjoyed being outdoors, maintaining his yard and flowerbeds and tinkering in his garage. Don had a real heart for music, both listening to and playing. He taught himself guitar and harmonica and enjoyed quietly sitting and strumming a melody. Gospel bluegrass was one of his favorites and he frequented local concerts with his wife, family and friends. His appreciation for music and natural artistic ability have also been revealed in his children and grandchildren. Don’s deep love for his family was apparent to all who knew him. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend who loved the Lord and walked out the faith he professed.

In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by four children, Michael, husband of Claudia Landis, Jonathan, husband of Rosanna Landis, Teresa, wife of Wes Davenport, Jennifer, wife of Brian Bennett; nine grandchildren, one more on the way, and two sisters, Joan Bauman and Mary Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings; Eileen and Ralph Edward and one grandchild, Michael.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Lancaster Evangelical Free Church, 419 Pierson Road, Lititz, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. Interment will be private in Witness Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Donald's memory may be made to Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000 or at www.samaritanspurse.org.
