Dear Shirley & Carlene,
My sorrow and heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your Husband and Father. Although our friendship only blossomed over the past two years or so, I feel so very blessed that I had the opportunity to to get to know Carl, joking around when he got on the motorized shopping cart and sharing thoughts about life and God. I have missed seeing him and will continue missing him on Tuesday mornings. He was a ray of sunshine for me no matter what kind of day he was having. I always looked forward and waited to see him. May God give you both strength and peace during this time and know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Carlene,
I am thinking of you and the family during this time. It’s been many years since we have been in touch, but I always remember your dad as a kind man. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I have known Carl and his wife for many years because of my association with the Ephrata Concert Band and will miss Carl's direction and friendship. Since I have been with the band for many years I first knew Carl as a Baritone player along with Lincoln Fogelsanger, then Carl took over the band when John Enck retired. Carl always knew how he wanted a piece to sound and while we only had limited practice time available on Sunday afternoons Carl would always say practice the piece over suppertime.if it wasn't what he was listening for. I also had the opportunity to play for Carl at Mellingers Church years ago and at the church in Ephrata. I will be saying a prayer for Carl and his wife. My condolences and know that many band members appreciated Carl's dedication to the Ephrata Concert Band and will miss him very much. Skip Walls
