Obituary for Adrien Leriche

Reverend Adrien Leriche, 81, of Blandon, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at his home.

He was born in Jacmel, Haiti on June 21, 1942, to the late Danier and Adrienne (Jovin) Leriche and was the loving husband of 44 years to Duna Leriche Joseph, who passed away April 27, 2023.

As a young man Adrien taught school and was the leader of the youth group at Eben-Ezer Baptist church in Jacmel. He had a deep concern for the needs of others starting at a very young age. Adrien firmly believed that education is an important aspect of life and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with those around him. He studied business at a university in Port-au-Prince. He also studied theology at Sharon Mennonite Bible Institute in Pennsylvania and Rosedale Bible College in Ohio. Adrien was an esteemed member of Mission Evangelique la Redemption d`Haiti and Mennonite Gospel Missions where he faithfully served as director, pastor, teacher, counselor, and translator for many years. Adrien's kindness, sense of humor, protective spirit, and gentle guidance will never be forgotten. His unwavering dedication to the Lord and his service will continue to impact the lives of everyone he knew.

Adrien is survived by a son, Stephen Ray Leriche, husband of Martha E. (Myers) Leriche of Blandon; a daughter, Emma Dune Leriche-Fleurant, wife of Meralin Fleurant of Noisel, France; grandchildren, Adrien, Eva, and Cordelia Leriche and Maeva Fleurant; seven siblings, Solange (Leriche), wife of Merion Rene of Haiti, Altide Leriche of Brooklyn, NY, Sem, husband of Ruth (Bustin) Leriche of North Plainfield, NJ, Reverend Gabner, husband of Yolette (Saget) Leriche of Haiti, Reverend Guy, husband of Jeannite (Orion) Leriche of Vero Beach, FL, Gousse Leriche of Brooklyn, NY, Reverend Nathan Leriche of Quincy, MA, and numerous nieces and nephews. Adrien was also a father figure to Fritzner Leriche and Reed Zephirin of Haiti. Adrien will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Christine (Jean-Louis) Leriche; an older brother, Penius Leriche, husband of Ginette (Desir) Leriche, and a younger brother, Lange Leriche, husband of Gernilia (Brice) Leriche.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 9 to 11 AM, at Weaverland Mennonite Church, 210 Weaverland Valley Rd, East Earl, PA 17519, followed by funeral services at 11 AM. Interment will take place in the Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery.
