Obituary for Kenneth L. Grube

Kenneth L. Grube, 62, of Ephrata, went to be with his Lord on February 8, 2011, at Hospice of Lancaster County, Mount Joy, after a courageous ten month battle with cancer.

Born in Ephrata, he was the son of Edna (Sweigart) Grube and the late Vernon Grube. He was a 1966 graduate of Ephrata High School. He was formerly a financial advisor for John Hancock Financial Services. Ken was a member of the Nazarene Church. He served as a licensed song evangelist, church board member, caravan leader and youth leader. He was the founder of the Ephrata area church softball league. He previously served as softball coach for the Ephrata Nazarene Church.

Ken was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting and his mountains in Columbia County, PA. He enjoyed fishing, Labrador Retrievers, and in earlier years, horseback riding.

In addition to his mother, Ken is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sheila (Smith) Grube; daughter, Angela, wife of Jason Miller; daughter, Jodi, wife of Bill Elliot and a son, Kenneth Jr., husband of Renee (Hoover) Grube; 6 grandchildren: Billy, Mikayla, Ethan and Martina Elliot and Leah and Jake Grube; and two sisters: Marcia Kopp and Janet Mingledorff.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Grube.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 PM on Friday, February 11, at the Ephrata Church of the Nazarene, 110 Durlach Road, Ephrata, and also one hour prior to services on Saturday. A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 12, at the church. Private interment will be in the Mt. Zion Evangelical Cemetery, Akron.
