Obituary for Jeffrey S. Collins

Jeffrey S. Collins, 55, of Denver, passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Lancaster Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Elizabethtown to the late Paul and Jean (Royer) Collins and was the husband of Diane E. (Zerphey) Collins, with whom he shared 35 years of marriage.

Jeffrey was the Assistant Pastor at Hope Baptist Church in Shillington, and formerly attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where he was very active. He enjoyed fishing, going to Bethany Beach, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a 1979 graduate of Elizabethtown H.S., where he was active in sports, especially football and bowling, and was employed as a truck driver for Zimmerman Carriers for several years.

In addition to his wife, Jeffrey is survived by 3 children, Travis J. Sr., husband of Elizabeth Collins of Ephrata, Kyle J. Collins of Elizabethtown, and Ashley J. Collins, fiance of Austin Hadden of Denver; 6 grandchildren, T.J., Ava, Violet, and Archer Collins, Kalie and Lane Hadden; and 4 siblings, Barry (Jane) Collins, Gary (Cindy) Collins, Jim (Kathy) Collins, and Nyla (Tina) Collins; a sister-in-law, Jo Collins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest brother, John Collins.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, from 6 to 8 pm at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 3 Denver Road, Denver. An additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 4th from 9:30 to 10:30 am at the church. Funeral services follow at 10:30 am, with Pastor Keith Sweitzer and Pastor Michael Foster officiating. Interment will take place at 2:00 pm in the West Green Tree Cemetery in Elizabethtown, following a luncheon.
