Obituary for Melvin G. Lehman

Melvin G. Lehman, 80, of Ephrata, passed into the arms of his maker on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Ephrata Manor, after a courageous battle with PSP, progressive supranuclear palsey.

He was born in Myerstown, on February 3, 1935 to the late Philip and Edna (Good) Lehman and was the husband of Gwendoline (Bixler) Lehman with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.

Melvin served his country by volunteering through the MCC, as a medical research test subject at the National Institute of Health. He was a furniture salesman until his retirement. Melvin was a member of the Ephrata Church of the Brethren, loved the Lord, was a life time Sunday school teacher, sang in numerous male choruses, enjoyed reading, lawn work and gardening. He was a life time member of the Lucky 13 Hunting Camp, an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and a loving humorous Pop Pop.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, Jesse, husband of Lois Lehman of Ephrata, Timothy Lehman of Ephrata, a daughter, Regina Usner of Ephrata; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a sister, Betty Logan of Ephrata.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, David and Paul Lehman.

A visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, from 6 to 7 pm at the Donecker Chapel at Ephrata Manor, 99 Bethany Rd., Ephrata, followed by a memorial service at 7 pm, with Pastor Robert Good officiating. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Melvin's memory may be made to the Lucky 13 Hunting Club, 1104 Lincoln Heights Ave., Ephrata, PA 17522.
