Obituary for Robert A. Meier Jr.
Robert A. Meier, Jr, 66, of Stevens, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Lancaster to the late Robert A. Sr. and Mildred E. (Yost) Meier and was the husband of Deborah (Weidman) Meier, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
Robert was a 1970 graduate of Ephrata H.S. Retired from Armstrong World Industries after 38 years of service. He was an avid golfer and a member of Lebanon Valley golf course for many years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their sporting events as a very proud grandfather.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by a son, Robert A. III, husband of Lara (Fox) Meier of Stevens, a daughter, Michaela, wife of Matthew Helfer of Virginia Beach, VA; 4 grandchildren, Erich M. Helfer, Alyssa J. Meier, Elliana P. Meier, and Carson M. Helfer; and a sister, Maurina Roether.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 10 to 11 am at the Stradling Funeral Home, 30 North Ninth Street, Akron. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, with Pastor Kathryn Kuhn officiating.
Interment will take place in the Riverview Burial Park.
Memorial contributions in Robert's memory may be made to Four Diamonds at Penn State Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 852, Hershey, PA 17033-0852, to help fight childhood cancer.
