C. Eugene "Gene" Groff, 80, of Ephrata, passed away on Monday, February 19, 2018, following an illness.

He was born in East Earl to the late Chester W. and Esther (Burkholder) Groff and was the husband of Nancy E. (Wechter) Groff with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.

Gene was an accountant for most of his life. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served on the church council and was very active in the kitchen. He was an Assistant Scout Master of Troop #158, a volunteer driver for Ephrata Ambulance, a member of the Ephrata Jaycees and served on the Ephrata Borough Council.

In addition to his wife, Gene is survived by a son, Steve, husband of Valerie Groff of MD; a daughter, Barbara, wife of Bryan Fern of FL; two granddaughters, Bryana and Ashley and a sister, Betty Yunkin of Neffsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Groff and a brother, Marlin Groff.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
