Obituary for Ray R. Redcay

Ray R.  Redcay
Ray R. Redcay, 76, of Ephrata, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 26, 2018, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital after a brief illness with esophageal cancer.

He was born on February 6, 1941 in Blainsport to the late Harold W. and Grace B. (Hartman) Redcay and was the husband of the late Judith V. (Peters) Redcay, who died in 2015.

Ray was a member of Coleman Memorial Chapel. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, and traveling throughout the country, enjoyed birding, family time, volunteering, square dancing and his Boston Terriers. Ray was a member of Gold Wing Cycles, and was active in various other cycle clubs. He was self-employed and owned Redcay Paving, had worked at Brubaker and Rupp, was a supervisor for East Cocalico Township Water and Sewage for over 20 years until his retirement.

Ray is survived by 2 daughters, Valerie L., wife of Stephen M. Olesh of Bethel, Raeanne R., wife of Douglas E. Enck of Ephrata; 3 granddaughters, Shellbi K. Olesh, Angela R. Enck, and Cassandra L. Enck; a brother, Harold Redcay, Jr. of Bull Head City, AZ, and a sister, Fern F. Sonon of Hamburg.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn M. Redcay.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018, from 9 to 10:30 am, at the Coleman Memorial Chapel, 1980 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz, followed by his funeral service at 10:30 am, with Pastor Russell E. Hobbs officiating. Interment will take place in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice and Community Care of Lancaster and Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital for the great care given to Ray.
