Obituary for Amos Z. Martin

Amos Z.  Martin
Amos Z. Martin, 89, of New Holland, passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 22, 2017 at Garden Spot Village.

Born in New Holland, he was the son of the late Jonas and Emma (Zeiset) Martin. He was the husband of Irene (Smoker) Martin for the past 15 years. His first wife of 48 years, Eva (Hollinger) Martin, died in 2000.

His life calling and passion was farming. Amos was a full-time dairy farmer for 10 years. He then worked off the farm while continuing to farm part-time. He worked for Sensenich Corporation for 20 plus years. After retirement, his passion for farming found expression in gardening.

He also enjoyed spending time with his family, going the New Holland Sales Stable, traveling, and, attending Southern gospel music events. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church, New Holland.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, Jerry, married to Cindy (Zimmerman) Martin of Lancaster, Glenn of Lititz, Lowell of Mount Joy, and Vernon of Lititz; three grandchildren, Abby, married to CJ Waldron, of Fairfax, VA, Joel, married to Jen (Wessner) Martin, of Lancaster, and Nate, married to Ashley (Mahen) Martin, of Orlando, Fl; and six great-grandchildren: Jazmine Martin, Eva Martin, Ellie Waldron, Rowan Martin, Ainsley Martin, and Celia Waldron. He is also survived by two sisters: Ruth Van Slocum and Lois Martin. Two brothers, Abram Martin and James Martin, preceded him in death. In addition, he had three step-sons, seven step-grandchildren and 19 step-great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff at Garden Spot Village and the caregivers of Hospice and Community Care for their compassionate care and support.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 29, at 11:00 am at the Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 South Kinzer Avenue, New Holland, PA 17557, with Fred Raupp and Doug Bozung officiating. Private interment will be in the Weaverland Mennonite Church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 28, from 6-8 pm at the Garden Spot Village Chapel.
