Barbara L. Enck, 84, of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Ephrata Manor.

She was born in Martinsburg, PA to the late Luther R. and Alvina M. (Fuiten) Showalter and was the wife of Stephen L. Enck. The couple celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary February 28, 2015.

Barbara was a member of the Ephrata Church of the Brethren where she sang in the choir and sang many solos. She had worked as a practical nurse at Maple Farms and later a telephone operator for Ebersole Answering Service. She enjoyed bird watching and crossword puzzles.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Karen S. Enck of Ephrata; a son, Kenton D., husband of Tina (Reber) Enck; 2 grandchildren, Lisa M. (Enck), wife of Ryan C. Stauffer, Ryan C. Enck, fiance’ of Erin E. Pennabecker; 3 great-grandsons, Brady R., Dayton J. and Nash H.; 3 brothers, Luther Showalter, Jr., John Showalter, Gary Showalter; 2 sisters, Anna Claar and Donna Fisher.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Albert Showalter.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 18, at 11 am, at the Ephrata Church of the Brethren, 201 Crescent Ave., Ephrata with Pastor Rob Eshelman officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in the Lincoln Cemetery.
