Obituary for Una Kay Brower (Gockley)

Una Kay Brower, 73, of Stevens, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Hospice and Community Care, Mount Joy.

She was born in Ephrata to the late Jacob and Bernice (Sweigart) Gockley and was the wife of Harry W. Brower with whom she shared 55 years of marriage this past October.

Una was a homemaker most of her life, but in her early years she worked at Sperry New Holland and later was a cashier at the former Zinn''s Super Thrift. She was a 1958 graduate of Ephrata High School. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild, public auctions and sales, collecting antiques, cooking, flower gardening and bird watching.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 2 sons, Tom L., husband of Beth (Stayer) Brower of Bowmansville, Tim L., husband of Karen (Lichty) Brower of Reinholds; 2 grandchildren, Joseph and Jennifer Brower; a great grandson, Micah Brower; 3 brothers, Gary Gockley of Quarryville, Terry Gockley of Leola, Troy, husband of Jane Gockley of Manheim and a sister in law, Carol Gockley of Mt. Joy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Barry Gockley.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 23, from 1 to 2 p.m., at the Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Ave., Ephrata, followed by her funeral service at 2 p.m., with Pastor Keith MacDougall officiating. Interment will take place in the Mt. Zion Evangelical Cemetery, Akron.
