Obituary for Raymond E. Hensel

Raymond E. Hensel, 97, formerly of Akron, entered into rest at Denver Nursing Home on Monday, November 26, 2007.

Born in Hopeland, he was a son of the late Alexander and Alice (Enck) Hensel. He was the husband of the late Mabel Grace (Adams) Hensel, who passed away in 2002. They were married for 67 years.

A sewing machine mechanic, he worked for General Contractors. He was a notary, a member of the Brickerville Lions Club, a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Ephrata Blue Lodge 665 F. & A.M. He was also a member of the Reading Consistory and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite.

Mr. Hensel is survived by a son, Douglas I., husband of Vicky (Mellinger) Hensel of East Earl, 3 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Alexander Hensel and three sisters, Ella Mae Bingeman, Arlene Messner, and Miriam Johnson.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 30, 2007 at Stradling Funeral Home, 201 Church Avenue, Ephrata with Pastor Dennis Snovel officiating. Interment will follow in the Hopeland Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services on Friday at the funeral home.
